Blue doors, blue windows,
blue gates.... you know you're in New Mexico! I've heard that blue doors
bring luck, ward off witches, welcome visitors, that it represents the sky, or water, or turquoise... I have no idea what the actual origin of the blue door is, but it's a beautiful combination with adobe walls. Just about every shade of blue is used, from light turquoise to deep cobalt. Around Albuquerque the preference seems to be for lighter, greener shades of turquoise, further north they really go for the deeper blues. But mostly it just comes down to personal preference. |
